System for Award Management (SAM) Pushed Back to Late July — CCR and ORCA Still Live (for now)

If you are a government contractor, you know what CCR and ORCA are. You should also know that they and other procurement systems were scheduled to be replaced over the weekend by SAM, the government’s new integrated System for Award Management (and if you didn’t know… see the FAQ here). The transfer has been pushed back to late July… see the official announcement here.

What should government contractors do in the meantime? The best advice would be to use the extra time to make sure all of your data in CCR, ORCA and other systems is current, updated and consistent. All of this information will be transferred into SAM, and like with all data transfers (especially those coming from multiple sources and thus duplicate sets of information), having clean data to start with is the best tonic for potential headaches. Also, read the FAQ (again, linked here) and the SAM homepage here at least a couple of weeks before the transfer happens.
