On Tuesday, September 21, 2020, MWL Counsel Orest J. “OJ” Jowyk, together with Facility Security Officer Daniel Herdman of MicroHealth, LLC presented a webinar on “Navigating Facility and Personnel Security Clearances for Federal Contractors” for the Virginia Procurement Technical Assistance Center (Virginia PTAC). Virginia PTAC is a sponsored program of George Mason University. Headquartered in Fairfax, with offices in Fredericksburg, and Hampton, Virginia PTAC serves businesses throughout Virginia. All centers provide counseling and services that help businesses do business with government at the federal, state, and local levels.
Mr. Jowyk’s portion of the presentation focused on the security concerns the Government alleges when intending to deny, or denying, personnel security clearances and the mitigating factors that can allay those security concerns. He was joined by Mr. Herdman, an experienced Facility Security Officer with nuts-and-bolts expertise in administering facility and personnel security clearances.
The event took place online through the webinar facilities of the Virginia PTAC. The next scheduled presentation is on February 22, 2021 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and currently is planned as a webinar, although it could shift to an in-person event. Either as a webinar or in-person, the event is free, but registration is required.
