Reston Law Group, LLP is proud to announce the addition of Matthew A. Brennan, III, as Partner to the firm, effective February 12, 2024. Mr. Brennan has over thirty-seven years of legal experience advising small and medium-sized entities focusing on business formation, bankruptcy, business operations, contract review and editing, and the purchase or sale of businesses.  In addition, Mr. Brennan has served as first chair litigation counsel in both bench and jury trials before state and federal courts in Virginia, Maryland, and D.C., as well as counsel in various arbitration and mediation proceedings.

After graduation from the University of Virginia Law School in 1987, Mr. Brennan worked for several large Washington, D.C. law firms, and a boutique bankruptcy law firm. In 1995, Mr. Brennan and Carol Waite formed Brennan & Waite PLC as a community-oriented law firm to serve clients in the Northern Virginia area.

In addition to his law firm experience, Mr. Brennan served as in-house assistant general counsel for a Maryland corporation. During this time Mr. Brennan drafted and negotiated contracts with third parties and supervised outside counsel conducting litigation on behalf of the corporation.

Mr. Brennan is also very active in the community. He was the Chairman of the Board Directors for the Reston Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Fairfax, and the Vienna Chamber of Commerce. He is currently on the Board of Directors for the Reston Chamber of Commerce. He was president of the Vienna Rotary Club and the congregation of his church. Mr. Brennan was named member of the year for the Reston Chamber of Commerce in 2002 and awarded the Joe Richey Pinnacle Award in 2015. He was named the Rotarian of the Year by the Vienna Rotary Club in 2006 and named Citizen of the Year by the Vienna Chamber of Commerce in 2007. Mr. Brennan is currently the legal advisor for Rotary District 7610.

In addition to his legal career, Mr. Brennan served his country as a combat medic in the United States Army. He was awarded the Combat Medical Badge, the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star for Heroism in Combat, and the Army Commendation Medal.
