Reston Law Group, LLP is proud to announce the addition of Jesse A. Fenty as Partner to our firm, effective October 21, 2024.

Mr. Fenty brings nearly three decades of patent law experience to the firm, having drafted and filed hundreds of patent applications and prosecuted thousands across a wide range of technologies. In addition to his patent expertise, Jesse has developed a thriving trademark practice. His comprehensive knowledge of intellectual property (IP) and business law enables him to guide clients confidently through every stage of IP development, acquisition, enforcement, and commercialization. As a former United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO ) Patent Examiner, Jesse leverages his insider understanding of patent office procedures to help business clients fully optimize and protect their IP assets.

With this background, Mr. Fenty offers specialized counsel to start-ups and entrepreneurs, assisting them in navigating the complexities of intellectual property acquisition, protection, and product development. Jesse manages portfolios from start to finish. A keen prior-art searcher, he performs comprehensive IP searches and crafts strategic legal opinions that empower clients to make informed decisions about protecting and leveraging their innovations and brands.  Mr. Fenty negotiates licensing agreements and provides thorough reviews of IP contracts to secure clients’ interests and advance their business goals. With a unique blend of technical expertise, business acumen, and a client-focused approach, Mr. Fenty is well-positioned to address the dynamic needs of inventors, start-ups, and established businesses throughout Virginia, DC, Maryland, and nationally.

Mr. Fenty is a dedicated advocate for the community, deeply committed to empowering inventors, entrepreneurs, and students through intellectual property education. In 2019, he founded Endless IP®a nonprofit organization with the mission “to instruct aspiring entrepreneurs how to use Intellectual Property to protect ideas.” Through this initiative, Mr. Fenty conducts lectures across the DMV area, introducing K-12 and college students to the fascinating world of intellectual property.

From 2019 to 2023, Mr. Fenty served as Programs Chair and Director of the Intellectual Property Special Interest Group for the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE). In these roles, he developed curriculum and delivered IP-focused lectures to engineering students at local, regional, and national NSBE conferences, equipping them with the knowledge they need to protect their innovations and determine career paths in the Patent field. His speaking engagements extended to national panels with organization such as The Center for Understanding IP (CIPU) , the US IP Alliance® where he represented NSBE in discussions about the state of IP education in the United States. Mr. Fenty’s volunteer and teaching efforts reflect his dedication to fostering a culture of innovation and intellectual property awareness, ensuring that the next generation of entrepreneurs and engineers are prepared to protect and develop their ideas.
